Amarylis Serrano Juárez is a Registered Psychotherapist with over 13 years of experience supporting individuals, couples, and families through life transitions, trauma, and emotional challenges. As an immigrant from Cuba, Amarylis understands the complexities of adapting to a new culture, rebuilding belonging, and navigating major life changes. For ten years, she worked as a psychotherapist with OCISO, helping newcomers cope with the emotional impact of migration, settlement, and starting a new life in Canada.
She holds a Master of Arts in Counselling and Spirituality and a Graduate Diploma in Couple Counselling from Saint Paul University. Amarylis is also a Certified Canadian Counsellor (CCC) and a Certified Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP), with specialized training in trauma support and an understanding of how difficult experiences can affect emotional and physical well-being.
Her areas of focus include trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, and cultural transitions. Amarylis uses a compassionate, personalized approach, creating a safe, supportive environment where clients feel understood, respected, and accepted.
She integrates Somatic Experiencing (SE), a gentle body-based approach that promotes healing from trauma, with other therapeutic methods to help clients gain insight into their experiences, reconnect with themselves, and effect meaningful change. Amarylis provides therapy in English, French, and Spanish, welcoming adults from diverse backgrounds, including BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ communities. She welcomes clients who want to explore spirituality or religion as part of their therapeutic journey.
Amarylis also offers clinical supervision for therapists seeking professional development and ongoing support, as well as supervision required for professional registration. Her approach is collaborative and reflective, and it aims to help clinicians build confidence and strengthen their therapeutic practice.
Outside of her professional work, Amarylis enjoys spending quality time with family, volunteering in her parish community, exploring nature, and creating handmade cards. She also spends much of her personal time helping her parents adjust to life in Canada after immigrating from Cuba. These experiences have deepened her appreciation for resilience, family, cultural identity, and the courage it takes to start anew.
