Mary Jane Beavis is a Registered Psychotherapist with over 14 years of experience supporting individuals, couples, and families. Ten of those years were spent working at the Ottawa Hospital as a psychotherapist and spiritual care practitioner helping people through life's most challenging moments.
She holds a Master of Arts in Counselling and Spirituality and a Graduate Diploma in Couple Counselling from Saint Paul University. Mary Jane is also a Certified Canadian Counsellor (CCC), a Certified Spiritual Care Practitioner with the Canadian Association for Spiritual Care (CASC), and a Certified Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP), with specialized training in supporting trauma and the impact it can have on our lives.
Her areas of focus include trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, relationship challenges, and chronic illness. Mary Jane offers a compassionate and personalized approach, creating a safe space where clients can feel heard, understood, and supported.
She uses Somatic Experiencing (SE), a gentle body-based approach to healing trauma, and Internal Family Systems (IFS), which helps us understand and heal the different parts of ourselves that have learned to protect us. She offers therapy in both English and French for adults from diverse backgrounds, including BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ communities. She welcomes clients who wish to explore spirituality or religion as part of their therapy.
Outside of her work, Mary Jane enjoys exploring nature, reading, and making homemade preserves and sourdough bread.
