LEARN ABOUT US

Do you have thoughts like...

Am I handling this case as well as I can? Sometimes I feel like an imposter and wonder if I really know what I am doing.

What do I do when a client cancels at the last minute? I know I have a cancellation policy, but I worry that enforcing the policy will damage our relationship to the point that they will quit therapy.

How do I know if I am working within my scope of practice? Sometimes a client's needs are more complex than I expected, and I am unsure whether I have the training and experience to continue working with them.

Am I meeting the requirements for registration? I worry about whether I have the right hours, documentation, competencies, and experience, and whether I will be ready for the registration exam.

What do I do when therapy doesn't seem to be helping? I feel like we keep having the same conversations, and I am not sure what to try next.

What if I make the wrong clinical decision? Sometimes I second-guess myself long after a session and wonder whether I should have handled something differently.

How do I handle a client who reminds me of someone in my own life? I notice strong reactions coming up in sessions, and I am not always sure what belongs to me and what belongs in the therapeutic relationship.

How much of myself should I bring into the therapy room? I wonder when self-disclosure might help the client and when it could shift the focus away from them.

Why am I still thinking about this client after work? Some clients and stories stay with me, and I feel like I can let go of them afterwards.

How do I build a practice without feeling like I have to know everything? I am feeling overwhelmed as there is so much to figure out, from documentation and policies to boundaries, fees, referrals, and clinical decisions.

At Inner Core Psychotherapy, we provide supportive, collaborative clinical supervision to help you navigate the real challenges of clinical work, strengthen your confidence and judgment, meet registration requirements, and continue growing into the therapist you want to become.

Frequently Asked Questions About Clinical Supervision

Clinical supervision sessions last 50 minutes and cost $160. Payment is due at your appointment.

Your first session gives you an opportunity to discuss your clinical experience, practice setting, therapeutic approach, and what you hope to gain from supervision. You may have specific goals or want help identifying where support would be most useful.

Together, you and your supervisor will discuss the clinical supervision framework and collaborate on goals and a plan tailored to your learning needs. This includes how sessions will be structured, how feedback will be shared and how you will review your progress.

You will also review the supervision agreement, including roles, responsibilities, confidentiality, fees and any documentation requirements.

At Inner Core Psychotherapy, we aim to establish a respectful, collaborative relationship where you can ask questions, reflect openly and develop your practice with greater confidence.

Our clinical supervisors meet the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario’s (CRPO) requirements for providing clinical supervision. If you are working toward CRPO registration, supervision with us can count toward your required hours when the sessions meet the College’s criteria.

Before beginning, you and your supervisor will discuss your registration stage, supervision goals and documentation needs to ensure your supervision is appropriately structured and recorded.

If you belong to another regulatory college or professional association, please confirm its requirements and whether this supervision arrangement will be accepted.

At Inner Core Psychotherapy, we encourage clear agreements about supervision goals, responsibilities and records, helping you plan your professional development with greater confidence.

Sharing a difficult moment can feel vulnerable, particularly when you worry about being judged or appearing inexperienced. You do not need to have every answer before bringing a concern to supervision. Remember, we are all human and all of us make mistakes, including your experienced supervisors. We are here to support you on your journey, and we are learning together.

Your supervisor will work with you to understand what happened, consider its impact and identify appropriate next steps. A supportive relationship makes room for honest reflection while maintaining professional accountability and attention to client care.

At Inner Core Psychotherapy, we aim to build trust through respectful conversations, clear expectations and constructive feedback, helping you learn from challenges with greater confidence.

Even with years of experience, clinical work can feel isolating. You may carry difficult decisions, emotionally demanding sessions, or concerns you cannot freely discuss with others. Experience does not remove the need for support.

Supervision offers a dedicated space to reflect, explore different perspectives, and talk through the responsibilities you carry. You can bring uncertainty, questions, or situations that stay with you without needing to prove your competence or have everything figured out. We learn from each other.

Together, you and your supervisor can shape sessions around your experience and goals, making room for both clinical learning and reflection on how the work affects you.

At Inner Core Psychotherapy, we offer respectful, collaborative supervision to help you feel less alone and more supported in your practice.

The journey's better when we carry it together in Ottawa, Ontario.
