LEARN ABOUT US

Do you have thoughts like...

Why is it so hard to get out of bed and make it through the day? I feel overwhelmed and exhausted.

It shouldn't be this difficult to feel like myself. I feel stuck in a cycle of frustration, self-doubt, and confusion.

Why are my emotions so hard to understand? Anxiety, irritability, and emotional outbursts can leave me feeling overwhelmed and out of control.

My low energy, headaches, or stomach pain make it hard to feel grounded and get through the day.

How did I get so stuck? I feel disconnected from myself, and I'm not even sure how things got to this point.

At Inner Core Psychotherapy, we offer a supportive space to understand what you're experiencing, recognize patterns that may be keeping you stuck, and discover paths toward healing and growth.

Starting therapy can feel unfamiliar, and it is understandable to feel nervous about opening up, finding the right words or knowing what to expect. You may feel hopeful about getting support while also feeling uncertain or afraid.

Your free consultation gives you space to meet your therapist, ask questions and discuss any concerns before deciding whether to move forward. You do not need to share your whole story or have everything figured out.

At Inner Core Psychotherapy, helping you feel safe is central to our trauma-informed approach. We take time to build trust, respect your boundaries and offer choices about what you share and how we work together. Your comfort and sense of safety guide the pace, helping you feel heard, respected and supported as you begin.

After your free consultation, if we agree that we are a good fit to work together, we will arrange your first therapy appointment. Once it is booked, you will receive a digital intake form that usually takes about 20 minutes to complete.

Please complete the form at least one day before your appointment. This gives your therapist time to review your background, experiences and reasons for seeking support. If you have insurance, it also allows time to prepare direct billing where available under your plan.

During your first session, your therapist will review consent, confidentiality and practice policies, and explain what to expect. You will have space to ask questions and share at a pace that feels comfortable.

Through conversation and gentle exploration, your therapist will begin learning about your personal history, relationships, strengths and current challenges. Together, you will identify meaningful goals that can evolve as therapy progresses. You do not need to have everything figured out or share your whole story at once. We will go at a pace that is comfortable for you.

At Inner Core Psychotherapy, our approach is compassionate and personalized, helping you feel heard, respected and supported as you begin.

Individual counselling gives you space to explore relationship concerns without your partner or family attending. It can help you understand your experiences, recognize recurring patterns and consider what you need from your relationships.

Together, we can explore communication, boundaries, trust and how past experiences may influence your responses. While you cannot control another person's behaviour, therapy can help you make thoughtful choices about how you respond and care for yourself.

At Inner Core Psychotherapy, we offer compassionate, personalized support to help you build a stronger connection with yourself and navigate your relationships with greater clarity and confidence.

Online therapy lets you meet with your therapist by video from a private, comfortable space. At Inner Core Psychotherapy, we offer virtual sessions through Jane, our secure online platform, for clients in Ottawa and across Ontario.

You can join using a smartphone, iPad or other tablet, or a laptop or desktop computer with a camera and microphone. You will receive a link to join your session one day before your appointment and again 30 minutes before it begins.

You will need a reliable internet connection and a quiet space where you can speak privately. Headphones can help protect your privacy.

During your session, you and your therapist will explore your concerns and work toward your goals, much as you would in an office. You can ask questions, discuss what feels comfortable and let your therapist know if you need a pause.

At Inner Core Psychotherapy, helping you feel safe, connected and supported is central to our trauma-informed approach, including when we meet online.

You may be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, sad, or shut down without knowing how to explain it. You don't need to prepare what to say, understand therapeutic approaches, or have clear goals before your session. Once you complete your intake form, all you need to do is show up as you are.

Your therapist is a trained professional who will guide the conversation with gentle questions. She will explain the approaches she suggests in plain language and work with you to explore what matters most. You are welcome to ask questions, share uncertainty or let her know when something does not feel right.

Together, you will identify meaningful goals that can evolve as you begin to understand your experiences and needs.

At Inner Core Psychotherapy, safety, choice and collaboration are central to our trauma-informed approach. You do not have to figure everything out on your own—we are here to support you.
